Alternator, Starter & Car Battery Replacement Services
Alternators
Your alternator powers essential systems while your engine is running. If your lights dim or your battery drains unexpectedly, it may be time for alternator repair or replacement. Our expert team will test your alternator and get you back on the road safely.
Batteries
Your car battery powers everything from the ignition to headlights. If you're jump-starting regularly or seeing a dashboard warning light, it's time to consider a car battery replacement. Our team offers fast battery testing, replacement, charging, and recycling services in Marion. Not sure how often to replace a car battery? Most drivers should check their battery after 3 years and consider replacing by year 5-especially in extreme climates or with frequent short trips.
Starters
The starter gets your engine going. Clicking sounds or a failure to start can signal a faulty starter motor. We'll diagnose starter issues and repair or replace the component as needed to ensure reliable starts every time.
Car Starting FAQs
What sound does a bad starter make?
A failing starter often clicks when you turn the key-but it might also produce a grinding or whirring sound, or no sound at all. If your engine won't turn over, schedule a diagnostic with Corey's Automotive Repair & Service to determine if starter replacement is needed.
How do I unlock the steering wheel if it's stuck?
Apply pressure to the brake and turn the steering wheel slightly while turning the ignition key. This typically releases tension in the steering column and unlocks the wheel. If it doesn't work or the battery is dead, contact a professional to avoid damaging the ignition system.
Battery FAQs
What should I avoid when replacing a car battery?
When replacing a car battery, avoid letting tools bridge the terminals-it can cause sparks or electrical shorts. Make sure the battery is properly secured before connecting cables. Unsure how to replace a car battery safely? Our team is here to help with expert, affordable installation services.
What's the most common mistake when jumping a car?
The #1 mistake is connecting the jumper cables incorrectly-reversing the positive (red) and negative (black) leads can cause serious damage to your alternator or battery. Always double-check your connections and avoid using damaged or low-quality cables. If you're unsure, it's safest to let Corey's Automotive Repair & Service handle the jump-start for you.

What Our Customers Are Saying
Super friendly staff
Car & Truck Care, near Gas City, IN
Waited almost 3 weeks for another company to not even touch my vehicle. Had a co-worker that referred CARS. Pulled it home and not only did Corey's guys come and tow my vehicle to his shop they had it done 3 days before I needed it. Highly recommend.

These guys answered my call before they were officially open, towed my truck in some of the crappiest weather and road conditions and had me rolling two days later. Fast, professional service at a VERY reasonable price. I did have an issue with something they repaired after I picked up the truck, but it was past their close time, and no one answered the phone. However, Corey did call me back later that evening, but I had fixed the minor issue myself. I feel like my scenario is 1000% the exception of their norm and i would be the .001% of an issue after repair. Also, had i been local (this truck is based in Ft. Wayne, but broke down in Elwood, and had to be on a job the next day) I am 1000% positive that Corey would have made everything perfect, had i given him the chance. I hope to never be broke down again, but if I am, I hope it's around this shop.
